HAPPY HALLOWEEN !

When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam,

May luck be yours on Halloween.

A BRIEF THOUGHT OF HALLOWEEN

The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.

How far we have come from the origin of Halloween, from witches, goblins and warlocks to dismembered body parts in our yard to dressing up as the main killer in a horror film. Do you think that Halloween has gone to far with the gore, and horror ?

In our house we celebrate Halloween, It is the best holiday of the year for us. We all love to dress up and have a good scare. The thing is most houses decorate with more gore then scare. I find myself more grossed out then scared when I go out Trick or Treating with my kids. I just wished to see more creepy stuff, like things that go bump in the night, howling nosies, creepy shadows, things flying around, mysterious movements, wondering if a ghost, warewolf, or Vampire is watching over you as you are about to knock on the door to get your next trick or treat.

THE SWITCH WITCH, WHAT TO DO WITH HALLOWEEN CANDY

This year we are trying something different with our children this Halloween. Have you ever heard of the Switch Witch?

The Switch Witch comes to your house, and switches all the candy that the child leaves out for in exchange for a little toy, book, or stickers, whatever the switch which decides. This is to help get rid of some or a good portion of the candy.

Here is a great link that tells how it is done, and the story behind it all, http://www.achildgrows.com/2009/10/21/the-switch-witch-what-to-do-with-halloween-candy/

We told our children about the switch witch, and they loved the idea of leaving some candy out for the Switch Witch, but we add our own little twist to this little trick!

BOYCOTT NESTLE

Our little twist to the Switch Witch trick is that we told our children that the switch witch only wants the candy that is made from nestle. This is to help support the International Nestle Free Week, runs from October 31 - November 6, 2011 this year.

Why Boycott Nestle you say?

Nestle claimed last year that their formula was the GOLD STANDARD in INFANT NUTRITION, when we all know that BREAST MILK IS THE GOLD STANDARD IN INFANT NUTRITION ! You can find more information on the Boycott of Nestle and how you can help support this campaign by clicking this link,

What Are We Going To Do With The Candy From Nestle!

We are going to box it up with a nice note to Nestle and send it back to them :) I wonder what they will think? Really do I care what they think? NO. I will defiantly keep you posted if I ever hear back from them once I send out the package.

HAVE A SAFE AND NESTLE FREE HALLOWEEN :)
